Defender Safety, the industrial safety supplies distributor owned by 25-year-old Teddy Haggerty, had been rapidly growing since its 2018 launch due to a deal with a major national safety equipment distributor in 2019. It wasn't long after the news of COVID-19 was reported that Defender Safety was receiving inquiries around personal protective equipment (PPE) including masks. While all job sites as a result of the pandemic were closed and had ceased operations, Defender Safety used its knowledge and resources to pivot their business structure to help satisfy the need for PPE. Even despite their expansion success prior to COVID-19, Defender Safety kept up with current events and successfully adapted to meet customer demand.
